About the JPG โ†” PNG / WebP Converter

Not all image formats serve the same purpose. JPG is great for photos because it compresses well, but it can't handle transparency. PNG supports transparent backgrounds and is lossless, which makes it the right choice for logos and icons, though files tend to be larger. WebP is a newer format that often beats both on file size while still looking sharp.

This tool converts between all three directly in your browser, so you can quickly get an image into whatever format a website, app, or print job actually requires.

How to use it

  1. Choose your conversion direction from the tabs at the top

Frequently Asked Questions

If I convert JPG to PNG, will it gain transparency?

No. JPG files never had transparency data to begin with, so converting to PNG just gives you a PNG with a solid background โ€” it won't magically remove the background.

Why would I convert to WebP?

WebP typically produces smaller files than JPG or PNG at equivalent visual quality, which means faster-loading websites. Nearly all modern browsers support it.

Will I lose image quality?

PNG conversions are lossless. JPG and WebP conversions use a high default quality setting that's visually very close to the original for most images.

Can I convert multiple images at once?

This tool currently handles one image at a time to keep the before/after comparison clear.
