What quality setting should I use?
70–85% typically offers a strong balance of visibly high quality with meaningfully smaller file size. Go higher for images where fine detail really matters, or lower when file size is the priority and some quality loss is acceptable.
Which format compresses smallest?
WebP generally achieves the smallest file sizes at a given quality level, often 25-35% smaller than an equivalent JPEG, and it's supported by virtually all modern browsers.
Will compressing a PNG remove transparency?
If you keep the output format as PNG, transparency is preserved. Converting to JPEG will remove transparency since JPEG doesn't support it — the transparent areas will be filled with a solid color instead.
