A favicon is the small icon that shows up in a browser tab, bookmarks list, and — in various larger sizes — on mobile home screens when someone saves your site. Different devices and contexts expect different exact pixel sizes, and generating each one manually is tedious. This tool takes a single source image and produces every standard size at once.
Which sizes do I actually need?
At minimum, 16×16 and 32×32 cover standard browser tab icons. If you want your site to look good when saved to a phone's home screen, also include 180×180 (Apple) and 192×192 (Android).
Why does my logo look blurry at 16×16?
Complex logos with fine detail or small text lose clarity at very small sizes. A simplified icon-style version of your logo — bold shapes, minimal detail — tends to hold up much better at favicon sizes.
Should my source image be square?
Yes — favicons are always square, so a non-square source image will be squashed or cropped depending on how it's applied. Starting with a square image gives the most predictable result.
